As mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, there will be a mock Emergency exercise at Victoria Manor on September 30, 2014.
The mock evacuation will see members of Kawartha Lakes EMS, Kawartha Lakes Fire Service and Kawartha Lakes Police Service participating. Bus transportation will also be provided by the City as part of the mock exercise.
“The goal of completing this mock evacuation is to ensure that our staff is well prepared in the event of an actual emergency,” said Victoria Manor Administrator Pamela Kulas. “It will help us identify any gaps in our processes and plan and allow us to make any required changes and improvements.”
Volunteers, staff and students, as well as any MacMillan House residents interested in participating will play the role of ‘residents’ during the exercise. The mock exercise will involve evacuating all of the ‘residents’ from MacMillan House.
The mock evacuation is scheduled to take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30.
The Ministry requires the exercises be completed every three years.
