On Monday December 8th the Durham Regional Police issued a public message warning of lethal illegal narcotics after investigating six suspected overdoses over the previous three weeks.
Between Friday December 5th and Sunday December 7th, the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to two suspected drug overdoses in Lindsay. One victim died as a result, the other is recovering at Ross Memorial Hospital.
The investigations have led police to suspect that both victims were using illegally obtained narcotics from the Durham Region. The narcotics are believed to have been mixed with a number of additives that when combined, could be fatal. Police continue to investigate the source of these narcotics and anxiously await toxicology results.
